The Kittanning facility is located near Armstrong County Memorial Hospital and will provide valuable medical cannabis services to a rural enclave of the county. Compassionate Certification Centers has helped thousands of patients in Pennsylvania receive alternative treatment options, including those suffering from opioid addiction.

“We are seeing more and more patients desiring cannabis as a natural treatment option for opioid reduction therapy,” commented Darlene Geppert, RN, Director of Clinical Cannabis Operations and Training.

Pennsylvania was one of the first states to approve medical cannabis for opiate therapy along with New York and Illinois. The National Institute on Drug Abuse is currently implementing a large study of more than 10,000 New York medical cannabis patients to see if their opioid use decreases over the next two years.

“I spent over a decade as an emergency room RN and in my experience, nothing has been as successful as medical cannabis for opiate therapy, not Suboxone, Methadone, or Vivitrol,” stated Aimee Faiella, RN, Senior Executive Nurse at Compassionate Certification Centers.

According to the Armstrong-Indiana Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission, the county saw a significant decrease in opioid overdose deaths in 2018, versus 41in both 2016 and 2017.

Compassionate Certification Centers has educated the communities of Kittanning, Butler, Clarion, and Natrona Heights with over 30 events in the past two years. In July 2019, the organization will host its 3rdAnnual World Medical Cannabis Conference & Expo in Philadelphia.
