WHAT PATIENTS ARE SAYING

I suffer from anxiety so waiting for the call to be certified was scary. I have a hard time talking to strangers &w/video calls. I was so happy that once the call started I was put at ease. From the moment I got my notice to re-certify I was on high anxiety. The CCC doctors and staff walked me through everything. They truly are caring and compassionate. I’m very grateful

This was my 4th time with CCC since starting this journey. I want to be treated like a person not a $$$. I’d like to pay a fair price for the service I receive, and as much as possible, I need my appointments to be on my schedule. They have exceeded all of my requirements to the point that it never crossed my mind to go anywhere else and I’m looking forward to possibly speaking to the same folks next year.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PA PROGRAM

Is medical marijuana legal in Pennsylvania in 2026?

Yes. Pennsylvania legalized medical marijuana in April 2016 via the Medical Marijuana Act. As of April 28, 2026, the DEA also rescheduled medical marijuana to Schedule III at the federal level — meaning your PA card carries stronger legal standing than it ever has. Recreational use remains illegal in the state.

What documents do I need to get certified?

You need a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license or state ID, and medical documentation of your qualifying condition — such as a prior diagnosis letter, prescription history, or discharge summary. If you don’t have documentation, CCC offers an affordable evaluation service. Ask our patient care team for details.

How much does it cost in total?

New patients pay $150 to CCC for the physician certification, plus a separate $50 state registration fee paid to the PA Department of Health — $200 total to get started. Annual renewal is $125 to CCC plus the $50 state fee. We offer price matching; call 412-730-3983 if you’ve seen a lower price elsewhere.

How long does the process take from start to card-in-hand?

Most patients complete their appointment within 15 minutes. After certification, your physical card arrives by mail within 10–14 business days. In the meantime, your certification is on file with the PA DOH system and you can visit a dispensary as soon as your card is issued.

What products can I buy at a PA dispensary?

Pennsylvania approves the following methods: sublingual oils and tinctures, oral pills or capsules, inhaled extracts or vapes, and topical creams or patches. You can purchase up to a 30-day supply at a time, as determined by the dispensary pharmacist.

Can I grow my own marijuana with a PA medical card?

No. Pennsylvania does not permit home cultivation even for cardholders. All medical marijuana must be purchased from a state-licensed dispensary.

Can I travel out of state with my medical marijuana?

No. Transporting medical marijuana across state lines remains illegal. Your PA card is valid only within Pennsylvania borders and cannot be used to access dispensaries in other states.

Can someone under 18 get a PA medical card?

Yes, minors with a qualifying condition can be certified, but they must have a state- approved caregiver who obtains and administers the medical marijuana on their behalf. Call us at 412-730-3983 for guidance on the caregiver application process

Will I still need a medical card if PA legalizes recreational cannabis?

Yes. Even if Pennsylvania legalizes adult-use cannabis, the medical program would continue separately. Medical cardholders typically receive benefits recreational consumers don’t — including access to higher-potency products and stronger workplace protections. As of June 2026, recreational legalization has not passed in PA.
