Many of our readers have been wondering if they can use the medical marijuana card they got in their home state when they go to visit Las Vegas or somewhere else in Nevada, and luckily, the answer is yes.

States like Nevada, Arizona and Pennsylvania let people use their out-of-state medical marijuana card assuming the patient meets the state’s requirements. That means a medical marijuana patient who goes on a business or pleasure trip to somewhere like Vegas isn’t going to have too hard of a time getting their medicine.

That said, at least in Nevada, this has been a contentious issue. Back in July, Nevada’s attorney general said that people coming to Nevada with California doctors’ recommendations should not be able to purchase marijuana in the state.

Attorney General Adam Laxalt wrote a letter to Nevada health department Director Richard Whitley explaining why he disagrees with this policy.

“A recommendation from a California physician ad (sic) a driver’s license from another state cannot be used to obtain medical marijuana from a Nevada dispensary,” the letter said, according to the Las Vegas Sun.

As of now, Nevada businesses appear to be accepting out-of-state cards regardless.
