Cannabis Healthcare Network Opens In Downtown ButlerThe first sign that medical marijuana is legal and available in Butler County will come today.

Compassionate Certification Centers, which is a national medical cannabis health care network, is opening an office in downtown Butler.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Friday morning at the East Cunningham Street location.

The center provides medical marijuana certifications, evaluations and continued treatment for patients who are eligible to receive medical cannabis. The center is not a dispensary, which means the office will not sell medical marijuana.

Several members of local government will attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Compassionate Certification Centers on Friday.

State Rep. Brian Ellis, who represents the 11th district, is expected to be in attendance, as well as the Butler County Commissioners.

It’s estimated that nearly 200,000 patients in Pennsylvania are able to qualify for medical marijuana cards.
