If you’re worried about Jeff Session coming for your medical marijuana, you might have a surprising reason to have hope.

On Thursday, the “Senate Appropriations Committee approved an amendment to a budget bill on Thursday to protect medical marijuana programs from federal interference in states that have legalized the drug for medical use,” according to The Hill.

Basically, if this thing passes, Sessions won’t be able to use any money to go after medical marijuana in states where it’s been legalized.

“The federal government can’t investigate everything and shouldn’t, and I don’t want them pursuing medical marijuana patients who are following state law,” said Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), who wrote the amendment.

Leahy is someone you should get to know, because he’s been fighting for states’ right to legalize marijuana for years now. Looks like there isn’t only one senator in Vermont who’s 420 friendly.

Sessions has been trying to stop Congress from passing an amendment like this one, but it doesn’t appear they’re listening. While Sessions may be completely ignorant when it comes to marijuana, it seems some in Congress know what they’re doing.
