If you enjoyed the first debate between presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, you’re going to love this: Supporters and critics of California’s recreational marijuana initiative will duke it out for your entertainment in Los Angeles this week.
California state Assemblyman Adrin Nazarian is hosting this epic battle. Of course, he’s calling it a “panel discussion.” It happens Thursday night in the San Fernando Valley.
The panel is scheduled to include Lynne Lyman, state director of the Drug Policy Alliance, Andrew Freedman, director of marijuana coordination for the state of Colorado, Beau Kilmer, senior policy researcher at RAND, and Lauren Michaels, the legislative affairs manager for the California Police Chiefs Association, which has long opposed recreational legalization.
The topic is Proposition 64, a.k.a. the Adult Use of Marijuana Act, which seeks to legalize possession of up to one ounce of cannabis for those 21-and-up.
The action happens from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, 15107 Vanowen Street in Van Nuys. Be there.
