How to Get Your Medical Marijuana Card

Getting your medical marijuana card is as easy as 1-2-3! Follow the instructions below or contact one of our medical marijuana representatives for more information.

Step 1: Schedule an Appointment

Schedule an appointment with us at 888-316-9085 or to start your evaluation process! We will answer any questions you have and describe the evaluation process to you. We will also explain the need for medical records documenting your qualifying condition and we will happily obtain the records for you after you sign a medical release form. Once we have reviewed your medical records, we will schedule your evaluation appointment. Same day appointments are available for patients with qualifying records in their possession.

Step 2: Meet the Doctor

When you come in for your appointment, a medical assistant will take your vitals and then introduce you to the doctor. They will review your records, perform an exam, discuss your condition and history, describe the proper use of medical marijuana and answer any questions you have. If you have a qualifying condition the doctor will approve it and explain your dosage and consumption options. It’s that easy!

Step 3: Get Your Medical Marijuana Card

Upon processing and approval of your submitted application, the state DOH will then send out your Medical Marijuana Patient ID card, which you will receive by mail. Once received, this will allow you to purchase medical cannabis at a licensed PA dispensary of your choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Navigating the medical marijuana certification process can be challenging. But we’re here to help! See below for common questions and answers we’ve received from our patients:

Will they take my gun if I get my medical marijuana card?

No, they won’t take your gun.  However – federal law prohibits you from purchasing a new firearm if you disclose that you use marijuana either recreationally or medicinally.

What if my doctor won’t give me my medical records?

Your medical records are YOUR property – the doctor can’t keep them from you.  But don’t worry!  Compassionate Certification Centers will have you sign a HIPAA form and we will fax the doctor’s office and request the records we need.

Shouldn’t I just wait for marijuana to become recreationally available?

No! Medical cardholders will always get priority – we’ve seen this in the past with pandemic shutdowns, product shortages, and even by looking at recreational states. Medical patients also can obtain higher quantities and even limited products.  Plus, medical cannabis isn’t taxed the way recreational is – sometimes close to half the price!

Why won’t the Department of Health’s website accept my registration?

The Department of Health recently simplified their registration process, so if you got frustrated and gave up before – try it now!  If you still have problems, don’t let it hold you back – our consultants will be happy to walk you through each and every step. You are also able to contact the help desk at the Department of Health by contacting 888-733-5595.

What is the difference between the $199 New Patient Certification fee and the $225 New Patient Certification fee?

Compassionate Certification Centers offers a small discount if you pre-pay for your appointment at the time of scheduling. You can find more information about our services and pricing here.

Do I need a medical card for a CBD consultation?

No, while many patients use CBD and THC together to treat their symptoms, we know there are others who prefer not to utilize THC. You do not need a medical card to use CBD.

What exactly is a CBD consultation?

There is a lot of misinformation out there regarding CBD and the market is oversaturated with products. It can be hard for a consumer to know what they need, what to look for, and how to take it. CCC’s team of medical professionals will guide you through a treatment plan that will best work for you.

Does health insurance cover any of this?

Because cannabis is still federally illegal, most insurance companies will not cover cannabis-related appointments.  Some patients have had success using their HRA/HAS debit, but that is up to the employer and banking institution.  However, insurance is accepted for all non-cannabis related services, such as preventative and urgent care.

I live in Eastern PA. Do I need to live near an office to get certified by Compassionate Certification Centers?

Nope!  Because of regulations put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, Compassionate Certification Centers is able to do certification appointments via telemedicine, which means we can accept patients from all over the state of Pennsylvania.
