In Massachusetts Valerio’s clients include open medical dispensaries, dispensary applicants and registration holders, an independent testing laboratory, criminal defendants, property owners, and ancillary businesses related to the marijuana industry. Valerio is a drafter of the successful Question 4 on the November 2016 ballot, the Act to Tax and Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol in Massachusetts. In 2014 and 2015, Valerio was a lecturer for MCLE in Boston, “Medical Marijuana Meets Massachusetts Real Estate, Land Use & Zoning Law.”
In 2013 and 2014, Valerio was a lecturer for the Cannabis Career Institute explaining the medical use of marijuana program to hopeful business operators. The focus of Valerio’s work is municipal and land use, although Valerio spends significant time on the various business issues related to marijuana businesses including fundraising, taxation, corporate formation and application drafting. Valerio has worked with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, state representatives and senators, boards of selectmen, city councils, town managers, mayors, police chiefs, planning boards, and zoning boards to site dispensaries across Massachusetts.
