Which CBD is Suitable for You: Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum or CBD Isolate?

It’s not uncommon for doctors to legally prescribe medical cannabis or marijuana for various medical conditions.

There are three types of CBD (cannabidiol) extracts – Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and CBD Isolate.

You may be prescribed different types of CBD extracts. When you are already suffering due to illness, the wrong CBD or wrong dosage could make you even more anxious. It’s important to know their suitability and properties. Let’s have a look at each of them.

CBD Isolate

CBD Isolate is the extract which contains pure CBD. No other cannabinoids or THC is present in the extract. It is generally extracted from the Hemp plant that contains very low THC. It is tasteless, odorless and generally safe for consumption. Since there is no THC present, it doesn’t exhibit the psychoactive effects.

Suitable for:

  • If you have been prescribed only CBD or its high dosage
  • If you are sensitive to other cannabinoid compounds and THC
  • If your state has strict laws for THC usage
  • If you are using CBD for the first time and not sure about the effects of other cannabinoids and THC

Full Spectrum CBD

Full spectrum extract contains not only CBD compound but Terpenes, essential oils and all other types of cannabinoids. Apart from CBD, it also contains THC. Since it contains all the compounds present in cannabis, very few processes are required in extraction. The full spectrum extract is believed to work together with all the cannabinoids to magnify the effect of each one of them.
Suitable for:

  • If your medical condition calls for a specific THC to CBD ratio
  • If your medical severity requires THC and cannot be addressed alone by CBD isolate or CBD broad spectrum
  • If THC content is not causing any legal issues for you

Broad Spectrum CBD

Broad Spectrum extract contains CBD along with multiple cannabinoids but no THC is present. Broad Spectrum extract lies somewhere between CBD isolate and CBD full spectrum. It has a strong and natural flavor. It delivers combined benefits of all cannabinoids yet removing psychoactive effects of THC.

Suitable for:

  • If CBD alone cannot address your condition and other cannabinoid compounds are also required
  • If you are at risk with psychoactive effects of THC
  • If there are strict laws for THC usage in your state

Before obtaining CBD or medical marijuana, you must make sure to get your medical marijuana certification or medical marijuana card. A marijuana card enables you to order a good quality CBD compound from approved stores at reasonable rates. Also, holding a medical marijuana card allows you to legally use the CBD/marijuana. Obtaining CBD without holding marijuana certification can create legal troubles for you.

Going further, let’s have a look at some of the benefits that CBD has to offer:

Benefits of CBD

  • Pain relief: It is a natural pain reliever and useful in treating stiffness and chronic pain
  • Treating Epilepsy: CBD oil is proven to be effective in the treatment of epileptic seizures. Using CBD oil for dogs with seizures has also become common these days.
  • Relief in anxiety/depression: CBD helps to fight anxiety issues in obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic attacks, social anxiety, etc.
  • Useful in cancer treatments: Researches have shown that CBD prevents the growth of cancer cells and also helps in the destruction of existing cells.

As cannabis is becoming legal, its usage in different products is rising every day. Many medical marijuana products are available nowadays such as CBD oil, CBD based skincare range, cannabis-infused beverages, cannabis-infused chocolates, dog treats containing cannabis, etc.

The Most Suitable CBD

Though further research is required on CBD, it has become a new sensation in the medical field. Since this is natural, extracted from cannabis plants, its usage is preferred by doctors. It cannot be said that which one of the CBD isolate, CBD Full Spectrum or CBD Broad Spectrum is the best. It depends upon your body, weight, and your medical history with different compounds. For some people, a higher dosage of CBD isolate may work. For others, maybe Broad Spectrum works best as it provides complete benefits of cannabis without THC effects. Also, there may be cases where THC effects are required for a particular treatment and hence Full Spectrum CBD is preferred.

With ongoing researches on CBD and the effectiveness of its different extracts, we are still far from the complete knowledge about this compound. But the understanding gained so far looks promising in the field of medicine, in the future.
