Virginia might be the next place to decriminalize marijuana. According to reports, lawmakers in the state are discussing decriminalization.
Possessing small amounts of marijuana would no longer be a crime that can result in jail time if lawmakers approve the proposal, Those caught holding marijuana could still be fined if the state goes forward with decriminalization. The public will be allowed to comment when lawmakers convene on Monday.
A large majority of Virginians support decriminalization, so it seems quite possible the proposal will be approved. Virginia’s NORML chapter claims support is as high as 78 percent.
