The United States House of Representatives will vote on a spending amendment this week that would remove the unfair Veterans Administration ‘gag order’ on physicians recommending, or even discussing, medical marijuana use with their patients in states where it is legal.

This policy prevents a veteran’s VA doctor from having full and frank conversations about the potential benefits and risks of medical marijuana use, while creating additional and unnecessary barriers to accessing medical marijuana for our men and women who have served this country.

Our military veterans served out country proudly, and they should be able to have access to medicine that works. Below is a federal alert that I received. Please participate and help out our veterans:

Ask your representative to end this cruel and illogical policy by supporting the Blumenauer/Heck amendment to H.R. 2029 today!

Offered by Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Joe Heck (R-NV), this amendment would prohibit the VA from spending any money to prevent their practitioners from talking about medical marijuana use with or filling out recommendation forms for their patients. The VA already allows patients to use medical marijuana in accordance with state law. It is simply bad medicine to prevent doctors from talking to their patients about it, and it is time for it to change.

ask your friends and family across the country to reach out to their representatives as well.
