Artist, Roc-A-Fella Records & Patient Advocate, National Kidney Foundation

Leslie Edward Pridgen, better known by his stage name Philadelphia Freeway, is best known for his notable role as an artist for Jay-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records. He also a Patient Advocate for the National Kidney Foundation.

After Freeway was diagnosed with kidney failure in September 2015, Freeway has partnered with the National Kidney Foundation to be an ambassador using his voice and cultural influence in raising awareness on kidney disease. Freeway hosted and performed at the National Kidney Foundation’s Philadelphia Kidney Walk at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The annual event, which is held in city’s nationwide, raises money that supports the Kidney Foundation programs and services for kidney patients their families and people at risk. A portion of the revenue generated from Freeway & Friends concert will be donated directly to the National Kidney Foundation.

In February 2016, Freeway was selected as the recipient of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF)’s Patient Advocacy Award. Freeway was honored on World Kidney Day, Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the NKF Honors Awards Reception in Philadelphia.

Freeway has partnered with the NYC Justice League as well as other community organizations in Philadelphia and Baltimore standing on the front line lending his voice to address issues such as police brutality and senseless violence plaguing our inner city communities.
